An article about stopping to teach foreign language in BW elementary schools during first and second grade seems to demonstrate how arbitrary our government makes decisions about what our kids are learning in school. A few years after introducing the laudable concept of language learning during elementary school years, they are now reverting on their decision with seemingly no regard to what the experts are saying, at least that is what the article seems to be suggesting. The educated reader may ask themselves some questions here:

  1. Why do we not discuss about what we have been doing wrong in language education? Clearly, there is much room for improvement, but rather than talking about how to improve or what has gone wrong, we simply go back on the entire idea without even discussing the details.
  2. So, who are the experts that are advising our government, if those experts that we hear from in the newspaper are evidently not on the panel?
